Akordiono (“accordion” in Esperanto) is a Blonay accordion ensemble, born in 2015 from the merger of four accordion societies of the Chablais and the Riviera. The name, chosen in the language created to bring peoples together, symbolises encounter and union. The ensemble has about a dozen regular members, led by its conductor and founding member Nicole Maire, and chaired since 2018 by Mathieu Schaller. Its repertoire is deliberately varied, from classical to Latin music and film themes. It rehearses at the Salle Paul-Lavanchy, at the Collège de Cojonnex, and gives three or four concerts a year.

Union is strength (2015)
The Akordiono club was born in 2015 from the merger of four accordion societies of the Chablais and the Riviera, each struggling to recruit. Its name, “accordion” in Esperanto, sums up the project: to come together around a common language. Over the years the membership has settled at about a dozen regulars, who rehearse two or three times a month at the Salle Paul-Lavanchy of the Collège de Cojonnex and give three or four concerts a year, with memorable moments such as the concerts in the Temple of Aigle.
An accordion that plays everything
A founding member with more than thirty-five years of teaching the instrument, the musical director Nicole Maire ensures a variety of styles and takes account of the members’ suggestions, from classical to Latin music and film themes. To strengthen its ranks, the ensemble is drawing closer to the Jeunesse & Musique school in Blonay, in the hope of seeing young accordionists join it.
