This bust of the “First Lady of Song” is the work of sculptor Danièle Lauffer, installed in 2007 in the Palace garden thanks to Barbara J. Riley, donor of several of the garden’s tributes. Ella Fitzgerald left her mark on the history of the Montreux Jazz Festival from 1969: her concert that year, immortalised on record, ranks among the great moments of the fledgling festival.
