In the heart of the old town of Montreux, on the Rue du Pont, the Conservatoire de Montreux has trained the Riviera’s musicians since 1964. Founded on the initiative of Montreux musician Marcel Debluë, it introduced a jazz section as early as 1982, one of the first in French-speaking Switzerland, in a town the festival had already put on the world jazz map. Since 2002 it has been part of the Conservatoire de Musique Montreux-Vevey-Riviera (CMVR), born of the merger with the Vevey conservatory.
