Behind every great piano concert, someone has been there first. In Blonay, Julien Vernaz practises that behind-the-scenes craft: tuning, action overhaul, repair, restoration and voicing, by appointment. Apprenticed at Steinway Hall, he tuned for concerts at Pierre Fuhrer, at the Victoria Hall and at RTS, before running the workshop of a Bösendorfer showroom as concert tuner. Twenty years in the trade have taken him to Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Brad Mehldau, Martha Argerich and Valentina Lisitsa, and to many RTS and Mezzo recordings. He founded Pianos Riviera in January 2017 and works across the cantons of Vaud, Valais and Fribourg.
