Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa (born 1995 in London) became, in a few years, one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Montreux booked her in 2017, when she had barely released her first album.

3 July 2017: at the Jazz Lab
On 3 July 2017, Dua Lipa performed at the Montreux Jazz Lab, the contemporary-music stage of the Montreux Jazz Festival. She was twenty-one; her debut album, “Dua Lipa”, had come out a month earlier, and “New Rules” was about to become a global number one.
That night the room discovered a pop songwriter with a deep voice and an already very sure phrasing, a few months before the single blew her career wide open.
The Jazz Lab, springboard for future stars
Dua Lipa would go on to collect Grammy Awards and, with “Future Nostalgia” (2020), redefine the decade’s pop. Her Montreux concert joins the long list of débuts captured at the Jazz Lab, the stage where the festival likes to present, before anyone else, the voices that will matter tomorrow — from Adele to Ed Sheeran.
