Founded in 2004, Lavaux Classic is a classical music festival with a singular identity, where world-renowned artists rub shoulders with young local talents. It has hosted major performers of our time such as Grigory Sokolov, Steven Isserlis, Marina Viotti, István Várdai and the Modigliani Quartet. In the villages, along the shores of Lake Geneva or among the steep vineyards listed as UNESCO World Heritage, the concerts take place in breathtaking settings. The festival cultivates a warm, unpretentious experience: audience and artists gather after the concerts in the region’s wine cellars, and the musicians often lodge with locals, in the spirit of Lavaux hospitality.

Great names, unusual projects
Beyond indoor concerts, Lavaux Classic likes to leave the beaten track: musical walks to discover the terroir, open-air concerts of every style, “carte blanche” encounters between winemakers and musicians, or exceptional concerts in sublime settings. Around the programmes come public debates, concert introductions and meetings with the artists.
This closeness lies at the heart of the festival’s identity: after the concerts, audience and performers gather in the wine cellars, and most of the artists lodge with locals, a direct echo of the region’s hospitality.
A springboard for the new generation
Since 2021, the Club Junior has welcomed young music lovers: far more than an introduction to classical music, the programme reflects the festival’s commitment to discovering and revealing tomorrow’s talents.
Two competitions extend that ambition: a projects competition that promotes the projects of young musicians from the HEMU, and a piano competition in four categories, “from 7 to 77 years old”, from young musicians to passionate amateurs. Lavaux Classic thus acts as a reference platform for the region’s rising generation.
