The Salle Paderewski, at the Casino de Montbenon, is one of Lausanne’s great concert halls, prized for its acoustics and devoted above all to recitals and chamber music. It bears the name of the Polish pianist and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941), who lived for nearly half a century on the shores of Lake Geneva, at Riond-Bosson, and who helped bring it into being: on 16 December 1938 he gave a concert at Lausanne Cathedral in aid of the construction of the hall that would carry his name. See the artist page for his full story.
