Fontaine des Trois Couronnes, quai Perdonnet, Vevey

In front of the Hôtel des Trois Couronnes, on the Vevey quay, a bronze bust of Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941), the work of the Zurich sculptor Alphons Friedrich Magg (1891-1967), crowns a small 1873 fountain. It was unveiled on 8 July 2011 in the presence of the Polish ambassador. The bust actually belongs to the commune of Montreux: the mayor Jean-Jacques Cevey had acquired it in 1964 for a sculpture exhibition; long kept in storage, it was lent to Vevey, which found it this spot facing the lake. That same evening, the Montreux Jazz Festival gave a “Carte blanche autour de Paderewski” concert in the salons of the Trois Couronnes (Ville de Vevey). See the artist page for his full story.
