- Type
- Women’s choir (staged shows)
- Address
- Vevey
Chœur à Corps is a Vevey women’s choir, founded in 1993. Some fifteen amateur singers sing, dance and carry original narrative shows, built over two years. In thirty years, five musical directors have followed one another, without ever breaking the thread: that of a choir that never wanted to look like the others. Its new creation, “Cabaret de l’étrange”, is presented at the Théâtre Oxymore in Cully, from 28 October to 1 November 2026.
Chœur à Corps
A women’s choir that does not fall in line (1993)
Chœur à Corps was born in 1993 in Vevey, on the initiative of Patrick Bron, a music teacher and director of the school choir. At the end of their schooling, some pupils wanted to keep singing, without joining a village choir: he imagined a young, free and energetic choir, with something more than polyphony, movement and bodily presence. For the choreography he called on Christine Koenig, then Carol Apprédéris, who would shape the choir’s bodily identity for more than twenty years.
After a few years in which two or three men also took part, the project defined itself as a women’s choir. Patrick Bron, also to be found at the head of the Union Chorale of La Tour-de-Peilz, handed over in 2012.
Five directors, one unbroken thread
Patrick Bron (1993-2012) was followed by Patrick Marmy (from 2012), who conducted from the piano, then Timothée Haller (around 2016-2019), who invented the narrative show: each creation became a project built around a story, staged over two years, like “Nos histoires d’A” in 2019. Then came Claire Benhamou (2020-2025), who created “Il est où le bonheur?” (2022), “Éclats de vie” (2024) and a “Projet Queen” (2025).
Since January 2026, Elsa Bianchi has taken over the musical direction, with Christopher Belizaire for staging and writing, and Natassia Borgatta for choreography. The structure stays the same, a collective of some fifteen singers and an original creation, but the imagination shifts from narrative concert to cabaret.
