Half an hour from Montreux, in the Flon district of Lausanne, the MAD Club opened in 1985 and became one of the country’s great night venues: five floors, four dancefloors, eighteen hundred people, and a regular place in DJ Mag’s world top 100 clubs, fifty-second in 2024. David Guetta, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Martin Garrix have played there, as have Faithless, The Prodigy, Les Rita Mitsouko, Justice, Orelsan and Maître Gims. The club crosses the history of the Montreux Jazz Festival at least once: in July 2010, on the evening of his visit to the Riviera, Prince met the Vevey sculptor Zapoff there.
