- Quai Ernest-Ansermet, Vevey
Ernest Ansermet (1883-1969) was a son of Vevey, born into a family of amateur musicians. His home town dedicated a quay to him along Lake Geneva, just as Vevey elsewhere keeps the memory of Clara Haskil or Paul Hindemith. From this corner of the Riviera, Ansermet went on to conduct the Kursaal de Montreux, Diaghilev's Ballets Russes and then the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, which he founded in 1918. See the artist page for his full story.
