The Collège de Montreux, on the Rue de la Gare, still takes in secondary-school pupils. For the history of song it matters because a director and his son left their mark there: Camille Dudan ran it from 1926 to 1932, and his son Pierre, the future author of “Clopin-Clopant” and “Café au lait au lit”, was schooled there. It was there, with his father and his French teacher, the writer Maurice Budry, that young Pierre took to the words that would make his Paris career.
