Michael Jackson never sang in Montreux itself. His Swiss concerts took place a little further west, at the Pontaise stadium in Lausanne: three times in nine years, for three world tours. The stadium, built for the 1954 Federal Gymnastics Festival, remains one of the few venues in French-speaking Switzerland able to host shows on that scale.

19 August 1988: Bad World Tour

Two months after his visit to the Manoir de Ban, Michael Jackson returned to Switzerland to fill a stadium: 45,000 people at La Pontaise on 19 August 1988, for the Bad World Tour.

8 September 1992: Dangerous Tour

Four years later he came back with the Dangerous Tour, on 8 September 1992. The following year, in the middle of that tour, he would take refuge in the Vaud and Bernese Alps, far from the spotlight.

20 June 1997: HIStory World Tour

On 20 June 1997, five months after his working stay in Montreux, he returned to La Pontaise one last time for the HIStory World Tour, before some 35,000 spectators. It would be his last concert in French-speaking Switzerland.
