Temple Saint-Vincent

Type
Church / recording location
Address
Rue du Temple 30, 1820 Montreux

Perched on its terrace above the lake, in the Les Planches district, the old town of Montreux, the Temple Saint-Vincent is the historic church of the commune. It holds a small place in the discography recorded on the Riviera: in the spring of 1977, during the sessions for “Rick Wakeman’s Criminal Record” at Mountain Studios, the Yes keyboard player had his album’s choirs recorded here. The record credits mention an “Église de Planches”: it is indeed this church, referred to by the name of its district. The building can be visited freely and its forecourt offers one of the finest views over the roofs of Montreux and Lake Geneva.
