Buste de Miles Davis

- Type
- Bust
- Address
- Quai de Vernex, Montreux
The work of Montreux sculptor Bernard Bavaud, this bust was donated in 1996 by the Association of Friends of the Montreux Jazz Festival for the festival’s 30th edition. It faces the bust of Richard Strauss by the same sculptor: jazz and classical music look at each other by the lake. Miles Davis is one of the major figures in the festival’s history, performing there many times up to his final concert in July 1991, a few weeks before his death. One of the festival’s halls, the Miles Davis Hall, bears his name. The festival had made him guest of honour in the 1990s.
