La Rouvenaz

- Type
- Restaurant
- Address
- Rue du Marché 1, Montreux
A stone’s throw from the covered market and the lake, La Rouvenaz is an old-town table dear to visiting musicians. Since 1990 it has displayed one of Miles Davis’s trumpets, which fans come to admire — even though the trumpeter himself never dined there. Many others did: Charles Bronson, John Lennon, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, who sat at table 19. The Rolling Stones dined at table 1 — and had to be called to order, for they ate with their feet on the table. The restaurant has since welcomed George Clooney, Yannick Noah and Jakob Hlasek.
Table 19
Queen dined there regularly
During the years when Queen were recording in Montreux, the band dined regularly at La Rouvenaz. Freddie Mercury sat at table 19.
The place has seen many faces: Charles Bronson, John Lennon, David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, George Clooney, Yannick Noah and the tennis player Jakob Hlasek.
A Miles Davis trumpet
A trumpet belonging to Miles Davis is on display in the restaurant. The trumpeter, a Montreux Jazz Festival regular, gave one of his last concerts there in July 1991, two months before his death.
