In the heart of Lausanne’s old town, the Place de la Palud is overlooked by the town hall. It was there that David Bowie married the Somali model Iman on 24 April 1992, in the greatest secrecy: the press only learned of it ten days later. A photographer from a Lausanne agency did, however, catch the couple as they arrived.
