Banc Claude Nobs (Rencontres & Inspiration)

- Type
- Memorial bench
- Address
- Quai du Casino, Montreux
Another stage of the “Rencontres & Inspiration” trail, this silhouette bench honours Claude Nobs (1936-2013), the founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, a stone’s throw from the Casino whose 1971 fire brought him into rock legend through “Smoke on the Water”. Seated facing the lake, “Funky Claude” seems to contemplate the town he turned into a world capital of live music. His official statue, for its part, stands in the garden of the Montreux Palace.
