The official café of the Montreux Jazz Festival, at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, is decorated with objects, photographs and archives retracing nearly sixty years of the festival founded by Claude Nobs in 1967. Filmed concerts shown on screens, historic posters and souvenirs of the great editions accompany a menu inspired by the tastes of “Funky Claude” himself. A delicious way to immerse yourself in the festival’s legacy, a stone’s throw from the busts in the Palace garden. Among the pieces on display are a white Japanese kimono given by Freddie Mercury to Thierry Amsallem and Claude Nobs, and a painted portrait of Quincy Jones bearing his handwritten dedication (“Pour my beloved… I love you all…”), a work given personally to the producer.
