Type
Train halt, tribute to Claude Nobs
Address
Ligne Montreux–Rochers-de-Naye (MGN), Haut-de-Caux, 1824 Caux

In June 2015, the GoldenPass company dedicated to Claude Nobs (1936-2013), founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, its railcar 301 and a halt on the Montreux–Glion–Caux–Jaman–Rochers-de-Naye line, renamed “Haut-de-Caux, Vers-chez-Claude”. It stands a few steps from his chalets, Le Picotin and Le Grillon, and recalls the railway passion of the man who made Montreux known around the world.

A train halt for Claude Nobs

Kiku, Kuki and the lifetime pass

The idea was born in 2012: invited to a thirty-minute chat with Claude Nobs, Georges Oberson, director of GoldenPass, spent the whole evening talking trains with him, and promised him “his loco and his station”. The promise was kept in June 2015, with the support of the Claude Nobs Foundation.

The same day, Kiku and Kuki, Nobs’s two Bernese mountain dogs, were given a lifetime pass on the Naye line: they often followed walkers up to the Rochers-de-Naye, but, no longer always having the strength to walk back down, they took the train, now without fare-dodging.
